Server
======

Oracle7 Server
--------------

Provides flexible, reliable, and manageable distributed database facilities
that make the integration of enterprise, departmental, and workgroup data a
reality. It's scalable, integrated architecture delivers unprecedented
performance, by dynamically adapting to both uniprocessors and parallel
hardware on the Windows NT platform. Any of the Server Options can be added
to this product in any combination.

Oracle7 Workgroup Server
------------------------

Is pre-tuned and pre-configured, it combines ease-of-use with the proven
power and performance of the Oracle7 database. From single-server to
distributed branch environments, Oracle7 Workgroup Server provides all the
facilities necessary to build business-critical applications. The database
kernel for this product is identical to the Server release, but without the
hooks necessary to add any of the Server Options.

Personal Oracle7
----------------

Brings the power of Oracle7 Server to the desktop. Offering a host of new
features that extend both its award-winning power/performance and ease of
use, it is the ideal development platform for disconnected, mobile, or
networked client/server applications. 100 percent compatible with the
Oracle7 family of databases, Personal Oracle7 ensures database application
can scale from the desktop to enterprise. The database kernel for this
product is identical to the Workgroup Server release, but is configured for
personal use.

Personal Oracle Lite
--------------------

Is an Object-Relational database designed for mass deployment, mobile, or
embedded applications. With the power and flexibility of databases 10 times
its size and compatibility with Oracle7, Personal Oracle Lite is an easy-to
-use database with unlimited versatility. This product does not share the
same database kernel or features as the above products, but exposes similar
functionality through interfaces such as Objects for OLE and SQLPLUS.

Server Options
==============

Oracle FailSafe Option
----------------------

Provides a high-availability database solution for Windows NT clusters. In
the event of system failure, Fail Safe works with cluster software to
recover and restart the database on an alternative node within the cluster. 

Parallel Query Option
---------------------

Allows single queries to be run in parallel across all processors available
on an SMP machine. When used in conjunction with Oracle Parallel Server
this parallel processing is extended across all nodes in the cluster. An
integral component of this option is Bitmap Indexing which can dramatically
improve query performance through the use of boolean operators.

Parallel Server Option
----------------------

Is Oracle's clustering technology for providing high availability and
scalability through the use of shared storage systems. It allows users on
multiple nodes to access a common Oracle database simultaneously. It
enables multiple Oracle7 Server instances to run on different nodes of a
cluster while providing concurrent access to common data.

Video/Media Server Option
-------------------------

Is an end-to-end software solution that enables customers to store, manage
and deliver full-motion, full-screen video and high-fidelity audio from
server to client over a corporate network. It enables corporations to
easily develop new multimedia applications. 

ConText Option
--------------

Tightly integrates text retrieval, reduction, and classification within a
relational database kernel. ConText Option makes text stored in Oracle7
fully searchable and summarizable via standard SQL. 

Spatial Data Option
-------------------

Enables spatial data to be efficiently stored, accessed and manipulated in
the database in the same manner as structured data. 

Messaging Option
----------------

Renders Oracle7 Server the capability of a centralized repository for 
e-mail, documents, calendar/scheduling, and directory services for an
enterprise. 

Advanced Networking Option
--------------------------

Integrates the Oracle7 server with a series of enterprise network services,
include enterprise directory services, network encryption, single sign-on
services, and token authentication.

Systems Management 
==================

Oracle Enterprise Manager is the cornerstone that makes Oracle7 the most
manageable database for the enterprise. Oracle Enterprise Manger product
family consists of next-generation systems management tools designed to
efficiently manage the complete Oracle environment, including systems,
databases, networks, and applications. 

Enterprise Manager Performance Pack is offered as an add-on option to
Oracle7 Server and contains the following products for advanced database
management: Oracle Performance Manager, Oracle TopSession, Oracle
Tablespace Manager, Oracle Trace, Oracle Export, Oracle Events and Oracle
Lock Manager.
